How do I qualify for financial assistance from the
Wings of Hope program?
The Wings of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation is aware that cancer may cause financial
difficulties for patients and their families. To this end, the Wings of Hope program has been developed to
provide breast cancer patients with a demonstrated financial need for some short-term financial help towards costs
that may be of concern. All other financial options, be that personal or public, are to be accessed before
applying for this program.
This program may assist applicants with expenses that are identified as concerns.
Assistance is limited and must be directed toward a service or particular cost.
Applicants cannot receive a lump sum for un-specified expenses.
This is a needs-based program so the Wings of Hope application asks for relevant financial
information of the patient and his or her partner/family.
The applicant may be asked to provide written documentation (e.g. financial institution documentation
indicating an investment that is locked in and cannot be accessed, even with a penalty).
The information provided remains confidential.
Identifying information (information that would reveal who the applicant is) is never shared outside of the
Cancer Centre.
The application form to apply for Wings of Hope funds can be obtained through the Resource
Counsellors at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. They can be reached at (403) 521-3922 and (403) 521-3553.
You are eligible to apply if you have breast cancer and are having treatment at the
Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
