Who We Are

The Wings of Hope Board Members include:

Leanne Armstrong Campbell (Chair, Board of Directors)

Leanne is a native Calgarian and proud Albertan. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta. After law school, Leanne returned to Calgary, where she lives with her husband and works in her role as Vice-President of Legal for SemCAMS. She has over 20 years of advisory and counsel experience, including working for companies such as Cenovus and Encana.

Leanne has volunteered for the Heart & Stroke Association and for various cancer related charities and projects since 2005, when she was first diagnosed and treated for cancer. She joined Wings of Hope as a Board Member (Legal & Compliance) in 2014 after volunteering on an ad-hoc basis.

Leanne is passionate about the mandate of Wings of Hope: it is a purely volunteer-based organization with almost no overhead or administrative costs, which was created to help ease the burden for those in need at one of the most difficult moments in their lives. Donations go straight into the hands of the people who need help.

This year, Leanne is also responsible for the Gift of Hope Campaign, funded by Wings of Hope. Gift of Hope provides low income breast cancer patients holiday hampers, valued at approximately $1000 each, which contain gift cards for groceries and other personalized items selected with the specific needs of breast cancer patients in mind.

Rhonda Aiello (Director, Fund Development)

Rhonda is an Energy Asset Management professional who has spent over 26 years in leadership roles for various oil & gas companies in Calgary. She is known for her energetic and enthusiastic leadership ability. She joined the Board in January 2016 after serving on the Wings of Hope Luncheon Committee for the past two years. As a volunteer, Rhonda previously spent 10 years working with the Centre for Energy Asset Management Studies (CEAMS). She is a passionate volunteer who likes to give back to causes that support people to make their lives better.

Lori Colwell (Director, Programs)

Lori joined the board of Wings of Hope in July 2015. She has spent the last 10 years working as a Volunteer Coordinator for various health and social service agencies in Calgary. She has a passion for volunteers, who are the heart of so many organizations who serve the community in which we live. Lori is currently working part-time and volunteering for several varied organizations. Wings of Hope was a draw for her, as it is completely volunteer run and supports clients through a difficult journey. In her spare time, Lori likes to knit, read, bake, walk her dog Sasha, have coffee with friends and spend time with her family.

Brianna Guenther (Director, Governance)

Brianna is an associate in the Commercial Transactions Practice Group at Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP. Brianna's legal practice focuses on corporate organizing and restructuring, share and asset acquisitions and dispositions, mergers and acquisitions and other business combinations, issues in connection with International Business as well as general corporate and commercial matters. Brianna is a native (and proud) Calgarian, and has always had a strong interest in international development and the law. Prior to joining BD&P, Brianna worked in Washington D.C. at the Embassy of Papua New Guinea and has always been an active volunteer with a variety of organizations. Over the span of three years, Brianna founded and chaired a large scale annual fundraiser gala which, through matching grants, generated over $140,000 for international charities. Brianna regularly volunteers with Children's Cottage Society, the Drop-In Centre, Wings of Hope, the Calgary Stampeders Foundation as well as the SHARP Foundation.

Yvonne Jeffery (Director, Communications & PR)

Yvonne's career in communications and sustainability spans 30 years and locations around the world. She loves to travel, but is always happy to return home to Calgary, where she works in the corporate sector. Her work focuses on building programs that bridge the corporate world and its stakeholders, bringing a sense of shared value to both. Volunteering has always been important to her, and she was pleased to discover a match in Wings of Hope.

Dr. Vanessa Krause (Advisory Director of Programs)

Dr. Vanessa Krause is a medical oncologist practicing at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary. She studied medicine, and completed her residency training in Internal Medicine, at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Following completion of her fellowship training in Medical Oncology at the Cross Cancer Institute in 2005, Dr. Krause joined the British Columbia Cancer Agency. She established a clinical practice in Kamloops, BC, which included a broad range of tumor sites. In the fall of 2007, Dr. Krause returned to Alberta and joined the team at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, where her clinical focus is in breast and GI cancers. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, her horses, and gardening.

Sue Luciuk (Treasurer)

Sue is a Chartered Accountant who has spent over 30 years working in the world of finance management and human resources in Calgary. Most of this time was spent in the corporate sector, before moving to non-profit in 2007 when she began working with Volunteer Calgary (now Propellus). Sue has volunteered steadily with a number of organizations over the years, usually related to interests that her family were involved with. Her children now grown, Sue was searching for a cause that would be personally meaningful and was thrilled to learn that Wings of Hope could benefit from her skills. She spends her free time travelling, seeing the world from a bicycle whenever possible, and spending time with friends and family.
